Magic Magnets

This week we got to explore the world of magnets.  It was fun to see all of the awe in the kids eyes when the magnets attracted or repelled each other.  It was like magic!  Which conveniently also starts with M.

We also talked about music this week.  We used our mouths, bodies and instruments to make sounds to sing along with.  On Friday we made maracas and in one of our classes we made drums from a students formula can donation.

Back to Normal

Things have finally settled down and for the most part returned to normal since Christmas.  The kids are starting to get back in a routine and have jumped right back into learning.

This week we Talked about the letter L, the number 7 and started to write the number 2.  On Monday/Tuesday we made lollipops and talked about the things we like to lick.  On Wednesday/Thursday we all turned into lions.

On Friday we tried lemons.  It was funny to see the difference in the kids taste.  Some really did not like them and a few kept asking for more.

With all of the cold weather we have not been able to go outside.  We have done many things to get our wiggles out.

We have done exercises

Yoga

and even turned into animals.

I just want to tell everyone who has come in or signed up for a parent teacher conference.  I like to be on the same page with all of my parents and would like to remind everyone that if you ever have any concerns big or small, you can always get a hold of me by text, phone or email.  If you are still interested in a conference there are still some slots open on the sign up sheet or you can contact me to set up a time.

Thank you for all you do!!

Christmas Chaos

It feels like forever since I have blogged! I've been so busy getting things ready for Christmas and our party that blogging slipped my mind. Here is a little recap about the last few weeks.

We went on a field trip to the tree house museum. Some of our friends got to participate in a gingerbread man play.
Which was extra fun because we were talking about gingerbread men at school.

We also had fun exploring the tree house.

We talked about what happens to animals and people in snowy lands, and how they have to change
their lives until spring.

The funnest part of December was doing all of our messy projects

We made Christmas trees

And decorated cookies

And since we didn't have any real snow we had to make some with shaving cream

The biggest surprise of the month was Santa visiting our class! We couldn't believe that Santa and Mrs. Clause (or Santa's grandma as the kids informed me) would take time in his busy schedule to visit us. That's how I know our class is extra special!

I hope that everyone has a great holiday vacation! We will see you next year.

Kick off to December

We had so much fun this week making decorations for Christmas.  We made candy canes to hang from the ceiling

and we made presents for our bulletin board.

Our learning focus this week was the letter H, the number 3 and transportation.  Ask your kids kids what happens to your hand when you say the H sound. (it makes it hot)

I also want to let everyone know that the calendars have been updated in your child's folder.  Please make sure that you check your child's folder for any important notes and go through the work your child has done.  They really get excited to take home their folders and show off their good work.   December will start our half birthdays so make sure if your child has a summer birthday to check the calendars for their birthday days.

Next week we will will be talking about ice cream and igloos.  We will also be going on a field trip to the Tree House museum on Wednesday and Thursday.   Please text, call or email me with any questions.

Thanksgiving

We have had a great time talking about thanksgiving the last couple of weeks. We made scarecrows, sun catchers, pilgrim hats, placemats and Indian corn. We also reviewed some of the things we have learned so far this year. I was so happy to see how much the kids have picked up already.

I would like to thank everyone who brought food in for the feast the kids had a blast. They thought it was so cool to eat lunch at school!

I hope everyone has a great weekend a happy thanksgiving!

Buitars and Monkeys

Our letter this week was G.  The kids did really good when it came to writing and recognizing the g, but when it came to finding things that start with g it was a whole new story. Almost all of the kids thought guitar started with B and of course a gorilla is just a monkey.  Eventually I think they made it through.

We did lots of crafts this week, but some of them had to sleep at school.  We painted fall sun catchers to hang from our ceiling for thanksgiving.  The kids are very excited to show off their work.  We also made gates and grapes from puffy paint.

Next week we will be talking about Thanksgiving and reviewing all of the things we have learned.
